Tank turtle neck -DIY, Disco pants-American Apparel
& Blue Creepers-Underground.
001) Good evening everyone i'm back again with a new blog post. A few things have happened this week which i'm pretty happy about such as losing another 3 pounds and being awarded an Editor's Choice fashion award by Be In Style which I didn't expect at all! So thank you again to the lovely guys at Be In Style for the award.
002) I wanted to show you all some cute spring outfits but as you've seen the weather forecast for the this week it's probably not the best time to advise you all wear shorts or skater dresses without tights when it's snowing. So i've gone back to one of my all time favourite fashion trends which are grunge outfits , as quite a few of you have requested me to do some rock n roll inspired Spring looks.
003) This outfit is based on a few items of clothing which are big trend setters in this particular style of fashion. Disco pants are probably one of the most expensive high street buys but are definitely worth having in your wardrobe as they really do help to define a hourglass figure. With these types of high waisted trousers you can wear any top with it whether it is a blouse, a tank top, a vintage jumper or a denim shirt to help create a feminine grunge outfit. After my night out with the girls on Monday , I noticed quite a few girls lately going for the 80's cropped shoulder bodycon dress (like what Whitney Huston wore in her classic video 'I wanna dance with somebody' ) as most of the fashion trends this season are based on classic looks from the 80's.
Also the twist on the classic turtle neck top is creeping into this Summers fashion trends as brands such as American Apparel have transformed the winter top into something more wearable for warm weather by transforming it into a tank top. So I made this turtle neck top myself after being inspired by American Apparels new line and famous outfits from the 80's such as the edgy feminine outfit Olivia Newton John wore in the movie Grease. If you've seen the movie she wore an all black outfit which is not only a very quirky twist on the 'All black look' but is a really flattering outfit that can be worn for any occasion.
To finish of the look I wore my Creepers to add a grunge twist to the feminine look however if you don't own a pair of Creepers you can easily wear a rock inspired shoe such as Dr Martens , Vans or even Converse to create an effortless grunge day look. If you want to wear this for a night outfit you can swap the Creepers for a heel shoe which you're comfortable wearing either wedges, platforms or if you can afford them Lita's. Jacket wise for a day look I'd advise adding a bit of colour , so in this case I would have worn my blue blazer to contrast with my blue creepers or a loose knit cardigan which is a neutral colour as it will go with the black and the colours in my hair. However if you don't own a colourful or neutral coloured blazer you can easily finish of this grunge day outfit by wearing a denim jacket. If you're wanting to transform the day outfit for night time , don't worry too much about what jacket you have to wear as the main focus of the outfit is whatever top you wear ( whether it's a blouse or tank) and bottom (disco pants or an alternative bottom to disco pants which are black riding pants or high waisted black jeans). So don't worry girls about glamming up the outfit for a night out as you can update your day outfit by just changing your shoes. But if you're wanting to go for a real rock chick look then be Gaga inspired and wear a leather jacket!
